I’m pretty behind the times but here’s some examples of the webcomics I like:

Sluggy Freelance

Been reading this one since I had acne. I personally find it entrancing, and if you actually start at the beginning of the archive, well you’ve got your free time filled up for quite a while.

Steeple

Same author as Scarygoround and Bad Machinery (and Bobbins, if you remember that), it’s all great.

Gunnerkrigg Court

Everyone loves Gunnerkrigg! If you somehow came across my site before you found out about Gunnerkrigg Court, go read it.

Achewood

Did you know Achewood is back?! I think the new stuff is behind a paywall, if you are a five-dollarsaire you can tell me how good it is.

No one really knows what happened to Ryan Armand, but some good people compiled his stuff and basically made this library of his various projects. Everyone should read all of it, but they probably won’t so at least read Minus.

The Anime Club

Yeah I know KC Green has done all kindsa stuff since then but damned if I will ever let anyone forget about The Anime Club

Wigu

Another example of a great comic overshadowed by the author’s later exploits. If you’re into webcomics you almost certainly know about TopatoCo, but I’ll bet most of you never went and read Wigu and it’s REALLY GOOD

Paper Telephone

Paper Telephone is a fun game and a fantastic exercise for loosening up creatively. Basically, you’re given a caption and 10 minutes to draw it with limited tools, your drawing goes to the next captioner, and the subject matter shifts in stages as the game progresses.
